Little Wandle Support for Parents
Please see below for a link to the Little Wandle website which will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home.

Autumn 1
This half term in Religious Education we have been learning about Christianity. We have been learning about what Christians believe about God and have learnt about the Creation Story. We discussed God as a 'Creator' and made our own creations using natural materials.
Autumn 2
Wrapped Up!
In Art, we have been exploring the work of the artist, William Morris. The children have been exploring his nature-inspired artwork and have learned that he was famous for 'printing'. The children have been using everyday objects to print their own repeated patterns. They have also begun sketching simple Christmas designs to make their own stamps. Once their stamps are made, they will be using them to print their own Christmas wrapping paper that they will then sell at our Christmas Fair.
Science
In Science, we have been learning all about 'Seasons' and learning which months of the year fall into which 'season'. We have been discussing the clothes that people wear during Autumn and Winter, and they had a go, in groups, at making our own Autumn and Winter clothing. The children were very creative with the materials and made some super outfits!
Spring 1- Toys
'Toys' is our topic for this half term.
We began our topic by drawing our favourite toys and creating a class pictogram. Last week, we welcomed into school 'Tommy Top Hat' who transported us back to Victorian times and told us all about toys from the past. We learnt a lot of interesting facts throughout the day, one fact being that plastic was not around during Victorian times and so many of the toys were made from wood or metal. We also learnt that the toys were 'pull' toys or 'push' toys or a combination of the two, rather than using batteries like most toys today. All children were given the opportunity to play with the toys and explore the materials that they were made from and the mechanisms that enabled them to work. They had lots of fun!
Science
This half-term we have been learning all about 'Materials'. We have been looking at objects around school and have explored the materials they are made from. We have also sorted objects by their materials and recorded this into Venn diagrams.
Maths
In maths, we have been exploring 'Place Value'. We have been looking at numbers beyond 10 and exploring how many tens and ones a number is made up of. We have been using lots of different apparatus to help us learn, and we have also been recording these numbers in numerals and words.
English
'Dogger' by Shirley Hughes has been our text for the last couple of weeks. Children have been using role play to act out the story and have been using adjectives in their writing to describe Dogger.
