Welcome to our class page!
Sports Day
We had a fantastic time on our Sports Day! Everyone did two different races, some with equipment, some without. It looks like the parents had a fun time too!
Our Local Area
We went for a walk around our local area, discovering different aspects such as roads, houses, traffic and shops.
Music Day
We had a visit from a musician who taught us to how to play different instruments in time to different beats. We played along to the story Handa's Surprise.
Understanding the World
In Understanding the World we have been learning about floating and sinking. We predicted which objects we thought would float and which ones would sink then found out by putting them in the container of water.
Pirate Day
Our hook to start our new topic on the seaside was to dress as pirates and learn all about pirates. We all had an amazing day!
Space Day
This term we have been learning all about space. We learnt about all the planets in our universe, the moon landings and some famous astronauts. At the end of the topic we had a visit from the WonderDome mobile planetarium which brought the topic on space alive.
Coronation Parade
We have had a busy week creating things for the Coronation Parade through Hartshill. We have learnt lots of songs, made a crown, a union flag and a flag handprint ready for the parade.
Balance Bikes
We have been practising our skills on the balance bikes and strengthening our core muscles. We had lots of fun at the same time!
Gruffalo Walk
We have been for a walk in the deep dark wood searching for clues to our next topic. We saw a mouse, a fox, an owl, a snake and a Gruffalo!! We guessed the story and enjoyed listening to it afterwards.
Hoop Guy
We were extremely lucky to have a hula-hoop lesson from the Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist; John Parnell aka Hoop Guy! He taught us lots of games and how to build a hoop den! We had lots of fun making our own hoop dens and learnt that collaborating as a team helped achieve the end result more efficiently.
Snow!
We were so excited to go outside and explore the properties of snow, we discovered how cold it is and how and why it melted and changed state from a solid to a liquid before our eyes!
World Book Day
Today is World Book Day and we all got dressed up as book characters or in our pyjamas ready for a bedtime story. We have also had a fantastic time reading the Supertato story, making our own Supertato, making masks and colouring in the characters. We all helped paint our huge canvas of Supertato for the library too!
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
The story we enjoyed this half-term was We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. We learnt about all the different settings from the swishy swashy grass to the narrow gloomy cave, changed the vocabulary and wrote our own sentences! We also went on our own bear hunt and some of us saw a real bear hiding in the forest!
Space Topic
This half-term began with a surprise discovery outside our classroom. We searched for clues and soon determined it was a spaceship which had crash-landed! We later received a letter from an astronaut called Spencer who asked us to design and create him a new spaceship, so we got to work with our parents for assistance!
Nativity
Our Christmas nativity was called The Little Blue Star, and we performed it twice to our grown-ups! We looked absolutely amazing, and our performances were brilliant!
Pantomime
We were very lucky to have a theatre company come to our school and perform Aladdin! Here are some of the characters we enjoyed. We had a great time joining in with all the singing and fun!
Let's Celebrate
Our topic this half-term is Let's Celebrate, and we have been learning about different ways people celebrate different occasions. We learnt about Bonfire Night, Divali, birthdays, weddings and Christmas. We all got dressed up and had our own pretend wedding ceremony and party afterwards.
Visit to the library
This week we visited the library for the first time. We explored the books and had a story read to us. Next time we visit we will be able to choose a book to take home and share with our families.
Own Clothes Day
Today we dressed up either in our own clothes or our dressing-up costumes. We had a great day, don't we look amazing!
Once Upon a Rhyme
Our topic this half-term is called 'Once Upon A Rhyme'. We have been learning lots of different nursery rhymes and actions to go with the rhymes. We have also looked at people who help us such as doctors, bus drivers and firefighters.
The children have settled well into school, enjoying exploring the activities in the classroom and in the outside area and have made lots of new friends. They have been creating Incy Wincy Spider, buses from The Wheels on the bus and some beautiful autumn pictures.
