The School Day
It is important that children attend school regularly and are on time. All absences require a letter, form or telephone call giving an explanation of why your child is not at school. We ask that holidays are taken outside term-time. For locations of classrooms, etc. please see the school layout map which is included at the back of this pack.
8:40am |
Reception children come into school via the doors at the top of the sloping corridor. In Year 1 and Year 2, children line up on the playground and are collected by their class teacher at 8.40am. Please be aware that there is no adult supervision on the playgrounds before 8.40am. |

8:45am |
Registration is at 8.45am and any child not present in their classroom at this time will be marked late in the register. If a child is not in school by 9.15am then this will count as an ‘absence’ mark for the morning session. Please try to set a good example to your children and try to be punctual. All schools have an attendance target and the percentage attendance for the School this year was 93%. Please help us to achieve our target by sending your child to School every day. Regular attendance is rewarded in School with certificates and stickers.

Reception LunchtimeKeystage 1 LunchtimeMost children stay at school for either sandwiches from home or school cooked meals. The School’s commitment to health has been rewarded with the Healthy Schools Award. School meals are cooked freshly on site and offer your child a varied menu of 2 courses. We try to encourage healthy eating by the use of a rating system. A vegetarian option is always available. Children are able to choose what main course they would like for lunch with their teacher at morning registration. At lunchtime your child will be given a wristband in the dinner queue to denote the choice they have made which they will hand to kitchen staff when they collect their meal. New school lunch menus are sent home to parents when the menu changes. We encourage you to make your child’s lunchbox as healthy as possible and for this reason we do not allow fizzy drinks or sweets. If you are in receipt of Income Support, Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance, claim Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and have an annual taxable income of less than £16,190, or Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit or Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 you are entitled to a free school meal. Please claim even if your child brings sandwiches, as this will allow the school to claim extra grants. Please click here for more information. Each class has their own midday supervisor who they can get to know and looks after them. On wet days, the supervisors look after the children in the classrooms. Each classroom has a ‘wet lunchtime’ box of books, comics, toys, games, etc.
