Welcome to the Badgers Class Page!!
Autumn 1
Antarctica and Asia
This half-term we are learning all about continents with our main focus being around Antarctica and Asia. We started off by learning about the 7 continents and we used a song to help us:

We have been on treasure hunts around the classroom hunting for facts, been tour guides and even become a Go Jetter for the afternoon, writing our own Funky Facts. We have also loved using Blooket on the iPads, which has helped to further develop our knowledge of Antarctica and Asia.
We had a special Asia Day, where we spent time learning about the culture. We tasted Asian food, built our own Great Wall of China and even had a go at the famous dragon dance.
Maths
Our main focus within maths has been around place value. We have developed our understanding of partitioning two-digit numbers and how a number is represented by its tens and ones.
There are 3 tens and 5 ones. The number is 35.
The parts are 30 and 5. The whole is 35.
We have been comparing numbers using <, > and = symbols using the terminology greater than, less than and equal to.
We have been using the part part whole model to support us with related facts and fact families.
If we know 3 + 7 = 10 then we know 30 + 70 = 100.
Spring 1
This term we have been busy learning about the Great Fire of London. We were lucky enough to have a theatre group come in and perform the story of how the fire started and what happened during this time! It was amazing and the children loved getting involved!
In maths we have been looking at division and sharing equally into groups. We used cubes and circles to help us.
There are _ altogether. There are _ in each group. There are _ groups.
Spring 2
This term we have been learning about flight. We spent some time talking about when the first air plane was made and by who. We even took our own 'flight' in the classroom with refreshments and a safety video!
In English, we learned about the Pied Piper and how he used a magical pipe to rid the town of Hamelin of rats. To help us remember the story we created our own freeze frames using pipe cleaners as the piper and tissue paper to make the rats. It was great fun! We used lots of new vocabulary and re-wrote our own version of the story but with different vermin.
Summer 1
This term we have been looking at Oceans and Islands. We have had great fun learning about Madagascar, trying Madagascan food and having an interview with Sir David Attenborough about the oceans!
In Science we looked at materials and to help us investigate some materials we made rocket mice to see which would stay in the air the longest! We used milk bottles to shoot the cones we had made into the air! It was so great to see all the children getting involved.
In Maths we've learned about fractions. We used cubes to help us split numbers into quarters (or 4 groups as we have learned!) as well as colouring in the correct amount of parts of a shape.
